What makes your retreats different from other safaris?
Our retreats are only for women and offer a lot more than ordinary safaris. In addition to animal watching, our carefully curated programme includes daily guided sessions, mentoring, pampering and intimate engagement with nature led by experts.
Can I travel on my own?
Absolutely! We know that travelling on your own - especially to Africa - can be daunting. That is why we make it as easy as possible for you and take care of everything from the transfers to the reserve and back.
Is this for me?
Our retreats are aimed at women of all ages who feel that they need time for reflection, rest and healing. Being middle-aged (ok, a bit more) we recognize that the traditional retreat market is more aimed at younger women, so we strive to fill that gap. So: If you are a bit older and wondering if this is also for you, the answer is “YES, absolutely!!"
What is included?
Your transfer between the lodge and Cape Town, accommodation, food, soft drinks, game drives, walks and community fees. Alcohol from the lodge’s pre approved list is also included and as a special treat we also include a 60 min massage.
What is not included?
Flights to and from Cape Town, visas, vaccinations, insurance, additional spa treatments, special wines, spirits, gratuities and other incidentals.
How do I get to the retreat?
We take care of your transfer from Cape Town airport or Cape Town vicinity. You can just sit back and relax.
What must I bring?
You are the most important of course. We will provide you with a comprehensive list once you have booked.
Must I be fit?
No, we accommodate all levels of fitness. Of course, if you have recently had surgery or a medical condition, please ensure that you have been cleared for travel by your medical practitioner.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
The lodge can accommodate most dietary restrictions – please just let us know in advance.
What will the weather be?
We hold our retreats from Easter through to September which is autumn/winter in the southern hemisphere. (The summer months are unbearably hot). Since this is a semi-arid area, the day temperatures are usually mild, but nights and evening game drives can get cold – so remember to pack warm clothes. This is a very low rainfall area, but it occasionally rains, so rain gear is important.
When must I arrive?
Your retreat starts at 3:30 pm on the first day. It takes roughly three and half hours to get to the lodge from Cape Town. So please arrange that we can pick you up no later than 12h00 from Cape Town. If you are travelling from a different time zone such as the USA or Australia, we would strongly recommend that you arrive in South Africa at least two days in advance to recover from jetlag.
Do I need vaccinations or take malaria prophylaxis?
The Western Cape is free of malaria – so no need to take any malaria prophylaxis. (Please consult your travel doctor if you are travelling to other areas prior or post our retreat). For vaccinations please consult your medical professional.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our retreats are small and exclusive. If you must cancel, we will try and accommodate you on one of our future retreats, subject to availability. We unfortunately cannot offer any refunds, so please take out comprehensive travel insurance to cover such eventualities.
